A note about insurance: More often than not, insurance providers do not cover couples counseling as it is not considered a medical necessity. For this reason, we do not accept insurance, however, we can give you a detailed receipt once you've paid for your session(s), upon request, so that you can file directly with your insurance provider. I am considered an "out of network provider."
Your relationship is a worthwhile assessment. As you consider if couples therapy is an investment worth taking, here are some points to consider:
- Creating as healthy a marriage as possible improves your physical health and affects generations to come as they witness and experience a healthy relationship.
- The immediate cost of divorce (attorney and court fees) averages $13,000 -$19,000.
- The average wedding costs about $23,000. An investment in providing you with the tools necessary to create a lasting, healthy relationship is also a worthy investment.
- The vast majority of couples (around 75%) experience significant improvement in their relationship when the therapist is using an evidenced-based model (Gottman, 2015).
